The Quality Parts Inspector plays a crucial role in upholding the overall quality standards of the organization's finished goods, directly impacting customer satisfaction and the company's reputation.
Working under the general guidance of Quality Management with mínimal supervision, this role involves inspecting repaired assemblies and subassemblies for procedural, workmanship, or functional failures.
Responsibilities include conducting dimensional and visual inspections of complex in-process and completed machines, cast, molded, and fabricated parts, often working to tight tolerances using advanced inspection equipment.
They may also inspect templates, jigs, fixtures, and gauges, reporting any discrepancies or conditions that could lead to defective products.
Collaboration with product and quality assurance engineers is essential to communicate non-conforming conditions and implement corrective actions.Additionally, the inspector may plot measurements on control charts, provide input for process improvement, and guide lower-level inspection personnel as needed.
Maintenance of certification documents and participation in improvement activities to enhance the incoming-to-line process are also part of the role.
