Description
Objective:
This position presents an exceptional opportunity for an engineer with a minimum of ten years of experience in the power industry or related engineering fields.
The ideal candidate should possess a strong desire to learn and demonstrate the ability to develop a long-term career path in the field of Transmission Planning and Services.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Independently perform load flow analysis of 46 kV and above transmission systems for short-term and long-term system planning studies to meet NERC's reliability standards.
Conduct load flow analysis of 46 kV and above transmission systems as part of local area planning studies to address short-term and long-term needs.
Evaluate existing transmission facilities serving participants as directed.Initiate and develop improvement projects to accommodate load growth or enhance reliability in the short term and long term.
Coordinate design, engineering, and construction for new or improvement projects identified under system or area planning.
Participate in joint planning studies with other Integrated Transmission Systems (ITS) members and neighboring electric utilities.
Provide direction to other Planning Engineers to perform various studies as required.
Assume responsibility for area planning associated with assigned Participants, including meeting with Participants to discuss needs and concerns related to the existing Transmission system.
Review loads on substations and operational history of transmission lines to determine timing of required projects for reliable service and adequate capacity.
Provide input to the ITS Construction Budget and Forecast to optimize timing for required projects.Meet with Participants annually to present and discuss the Annual Participant Transmission Report (APTR), providing an overview of the transmission and substation facilities serving the Participant.
Provide yearly updates on peak loads for each Participant's meter points following summer peaks.Provide information to Participants for projects impacting them or constructed near their transmission system, sourced from the Joint Subcommittee for Transmission Planning (JSTP) or its sub-groups.
Review projects proposed by other ITS members to determine if the optimum solution was chosen based on identified problems and possible solutions, participating in working groups as needed.
The value of projects proposed by all ITS members can exceed $300 million per year.Required:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
10-15 years of experience in the electric utility industry or related field.
Salary Range:
$110,000 - $120,000 + Bonus Potential
Shift and Hours:
Monday - Friday
8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
