Overview:

Mental Health America - Wabash Valley Region (MHA-WVR) seeks an enthusiastic and organized individual to join our team as a Peer Navigator Recovery Specialist.

This role will support our Let's Talk program, providing stabilization, emotional support, and goal setting to people and caregivers facing mental health and/or substance use challenges.

With a rich history of 70 years in Tippecanoe County, we are proud to offer Certified Recovery services across 11 counties.


Specific Duties

Navigator

Client Services

  • Work with regional human service agencies, clinics, and providers to connect clients to appropriate mental health services.
  • Interview clients seeking mental health services. Complete individual intake and determine the most appropriate options for mental health services based on their respective needs.
  • Determine previous and current challenges and/or obstacles to services that clients may be experiencing. Determine appropriate methods of overcoming challenges and/or obstacles.
  • Arrange appointments for clients and remind clients of appointments if deemed necessary.
  • Communicate with mental health providers in all 11 counties that we serve and encourage their participation in the System of Care Navigator program.
  • Be familiar with all services provided by the various mental health providers.
  • Collaboration with the Courts and Law Enforcement
  • Work with judges and other court representatives, public defender's office and law enforcement. Accept requests for services as appropriate.
  • Keep case management software up to date.

Increase Awareness of the System of Care Navigator Program

  • Work in cooperation with the Marketing Coordinator to increase community awareness of services provided through the System of Care Navigator program.

Other Responsibilities

  • Meet program description and requirements.
  • Professionally communicate respect, courtesy, and kindness to all clients and contacts.

PEER

Client Services:


  • Utilize wellness strategies and coping skills.
  • Serve as a role model and empower clients to leverage their strengths.
  • Conduct individual intake appointments.
  • Identify and address challenges hindering access to services.
  • Coordinate client appointments and track progress.
  • Maintain accurate records in case management software.

Other Responsibilities:


  • Adhere to program requirements and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
  • Keep the Supportive Services Manager informed of relevant issues.
  • Contribute positively to the work environment.
  • Travel as needed, possessing a valid Indiana driver's license and reliable transportation.

Pay:
From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
