- Hours: 7:45-3:25 daily.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards for 9th grade Ancient and Non-Western History, and 10th grade Modern World History.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts, opinions, and questions about historical topics.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote active participation in classroom discussions and activities.
- Incorporate primary and secondary sources, multimedia materials, and technology to enhance students' understanding of historical events, figures, and concepts.
- Foster critical thinking skills by encouraging students to analyze primary and secondary sources, evaluate historical evidence, and develop their own interpretations of past events.
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, including tests, quizzes, projects, essays, and class discussions, and provide timely feedback to support their academic growth.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to share information about curriculum, student progress, and any concerns or opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to integrate interdisciplinary connections and enhance the overall educational experience for students.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other relevant data in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Uphold high professional standards and adhere to the school's code of conduct, policies, and expectations for faculty members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in History, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or credentials in History or Social Studies (preferred).
- Previous teaching experience at the high school level, particularly in Ancient and Non-Western History and Modern World History.
- Demonstrated knowledge and passion for historical content, including proficiency in Ancient civilizations and non-Western cultures, as well as modern global events and trends.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Innovative and creative approach to lesson planning and curriculum development, with a commitment to using technology and varied instructional strategies to enhance student learning.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team to support student success and contribute to the school community.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience to effectively manage the challenges and opportunities of a long-term substitute teaching position.
