Description
The assistant project manager performs work alongside project managers to manage client construction projects.

Project types will generally fit into one of the following categories:
ground-up (industrial, office and medical), tenant improvement/build-out, and tenant remodel.

The assistant project manager is responsible for bidding/budgeting, subcontract administration including change orders and billing, RFI and submittal tracking, client/internal meeting documentation, and project closeout.

In addition, this position will participate in design coordination, permitting, and owner interaction.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assists with project administration by way of critical path schedule development, RFI and submittal tracking, meeting documentation, bid solicitation, proposal qualification, creates scopes of work, tracks project changes, manages finances, processes change orders, invoices and billings.
  • Assists with problem solving, coordination with consultants and subcontractors and field communications.
  • Represents company professionally in project meetings and attend strategy meetings.
  • Interprets and explains plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers and clients as needed.
  • Formulates reports concerning such areas as work progress, cost and scheduling.
  • Works with superintendents and foremen to plan, organize and direct activities concerned with construction projects.
  • Compiles asbuilt and close out documents, develops and completes punch lists and addresses warranty claims postcompletion.
  • Actively participates in team activities that promote a sense of "esprit de corps" amongst team members.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates taking full ownership of their projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Consistently exhibits a team oriented, customer focus with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including MS Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of general construction industry and project management for the same.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with various types of personalities and authority within an organization.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner to both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to exhibit exceptional customer relations including but not limited to displaying empathy, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Must be assertive, and display a sense of urgency, motivation, confidence, and be a selfstarter.
