    ERM is seeking highly motivated Managing Consultant, Architectural Historian to join our global consulting firm as part of our Cultural Resources Services team.

    This is a full-time, salary-based position that can be based from a local ERM office or fully remote.

    Applicants are preferred to be local to the Pacific Northwest or Alaska , as well as be familiar with the relevant regional regulatory processes (i.e., federal, state, and municipal).

    Demonstrated Alaska and/or Pacific Northwest experience is required.

    Successful candidates must be flexible and responsive to a challenging and changing work environment where schedules and tasks fluctuate according to the needs of the projects and clients.

    Based in either Alaska or the Pacific Northwest, the successful candidate will also provide technical assistance for clients throughout the United States while also focusing on project needs and business development within their region.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Interact with various State Historic Preservation Offices, the Washington Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, and access online cultural resource databases.

    Lead and supervise staff in an office setting and/or during fieldwork.
    Perform research and write technical reports.

    Provide technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM's business and client base in the area of archaeology and cultural heritage.

    Interact with other ERM practice areas to share multi-disciplinary resources and best practices across the country.
    Represent ERM through communications and at meetings with state, federal and local agencies.
    Communicate regularly with clients via email and phone conferences.
    Assist with preparing proposals to meet client needs.
    Potentially conduct fieldwork.

    Qualified applicants should exhibit good leadership and judgement qualities, strong technical skills, good communication skills, and have demonstrable experience managing projects and staff.

    The preferred candidate also should demonstrate a desire for business growth.

    Contribute to or lead business development endeavors by preparing proposals, statements of qualifications, presentations to clients, and collaborating with senior management.

    Provide management support to field teams and subcontractors.
    Manage and mentor technical and compliance team members.

    Oversee the development and analysis of various reports, including Historic Structure Reports, Environmental Impact Reports, Condition Assessments, National Register Nominations, Preservation Plans, HABS/HAER reports, and Federal Tax Credit Certification documentation.

    Evaluate historic properties for National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility. Achieve a high level of project technical and financial performance while ensuring high-quality services and deliverables.


    REQUIREMENTS:
    Graduate degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation, Public History, or closely related field.
    Minimum of 8 or more years of professional experience.
    Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.
    Oregon Department of Transportation qualified Architectural Historian (if based in the Pacific Northwest).

    Knowledge and experience working with Section 106 of National Historic Preservation Act, Washington's State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA), and other state and local laws and regulations.

    Experience writing and producing technical reports; strong writing skills.

    Ensure a high level of satisfaction with our clients related to compliance services with demonstrated client development and management success.

    Be interested and involved in all aspects of the development of Real Estate, Architecture, and Engineering (A&E) or construction management projects as necessary.

    Fluency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Adobe Acrobat.
    Working knowledge of GIS.
    Ability to perform built-environment surveys.
    Regular out-of-town travel.
    Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles.


    Desired Qualifications:


    Demonstrated experience working with US Forest Service, BLM, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and US Army Corps of Engineers is highly desirable.

    Experience working with major electric utility clients in the west (BPA, PacificCorp, PGE, PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, WAPA).
    Experience working with infrastructure and transportation-related projects.
    Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in complex CRM projects.
    Proven track-record of participating in business development efforts.
    Project management experience, including a proven ability to be on time and on budget.
    Strong work ethic.
    Previous experience supervising personnel and direct reports.
    Strong oral and written communication skills.

    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office:
    Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
    Detail oriented; resourceful.
    Positive and energetic attitude.
    Self-motivated; strong initiative.

    For the Managing Consultant, Architectural Historian position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $79,546 – $88,570.

    An employee's pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.

    We also may have instances where employee's fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
