The United Way Neighborhood Zone in Brooklyn seeks to build and strengthen the communities of Brooklyn and Curtis Bay by utilizing a community approach.
This strategy includes providing wraparound mental health services to students, families, and community residents to support their educational and economic goals.
In accordance with the needs of the ages of the population served, the school-based Socio-emotional Program Director is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and administration of clinical/social work support services for general education students at Benjamin Franklin High School.
Optimize client functioning and well-being by providing high-quality clinical/social work support services, in the most ethical, effective, and efficient manner, in accordance with the needs, strengths, and wants/preferences of the client system.
Build and cultivate community-driven approaches to mental wellness.40% Implementation of High-Quality Clinical/Social Work Support Services *_
Ensures successful implementation of evidence-based, culturally- and trauma-informed therapeutic interventions. Serves as primary referral contact for case management and crisis intervention.
Provides clinical and/or task supervision and oversight to UMD SSW interns.
Builds an awareness of mental health/ socio-emotional resources in the community (i.e. external partners, referral points).
Implements appropriate tiered interventions at the school level in collaboration with school leadership and school staff (in response to data trends)

Identifies and builds community member support groups based on shared areas of need/want.
Assists with family services support for student parents as needed.

Ensures successful implementation of Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) requirements, policies, and procedures.
Manages program budget, existing grants, and upcoming grant/funding opportunities.
Captures program data for utilization of continuous program improvement and develops reports of services rendered biannually.
Develops relevant procedures and policies as needed.
Participates in required Community Schools and United Way training and Professional Development (i.e., grants, Relias, CARF requirements, budgeting).
Communicates incidents and risk in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
Interacts with UWCM central staff on an occasionally basis and UWCM neighborhood staff on a regular basis; provides information as needed, participates on staff committee/team activities; develops cooperative and effective working relationships with Neighborhood Zone staff, including Impact Strategies team members and other UWCM colleagues.
Interacts with City Schools Engagement staff on a regular basis.Interacts with volunteers, staff and community partners, collaborators, and other organizations on a regular basis to respond to inquiries, provide technical assistance and community impact activities as assigned/identified.
Experience in developing, managing, implementing and sustaining high quality wrap-around services to children, youth and families.~ Demonstrated computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
~ Excellent oral and written communication skills and proofreading skills. A willingness to work evenings and very few weekends.
~ Nimble clinical mind with a focus on development of creative solutions
Experience with community organizing.
Experience with budget management.
Experience with community asset building.
Proven success in project coordination.
