Job Purpose Summary:

The Safety Specialist is a member of the Safety Team reporting directly to the Safety Director.

The Safety Specialist is responsible for always supporting all department Safety Management Systems and positive interactions with all Global team members.


Food Safety Policy:
Adams Group is committed to producing and distributing high quality products through adherence to industry and regulatory standards.

As an Adams Group employee, you will be trained on our food safety policies and will be held accountable to adhering to them.

You will be encouraged and required to notify supervision about actual or potential food safety issues.

Everyone at Adams is involved in delivering safe food - within your scope of work you will be empowered to act to resolve food safety issues.


Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Support of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Participate in all audits, inspections, and safety meetings
  • Complete all required safety trainings
  • Learn, understand, and follow safety regulatory requirements
  • Responding to all team members accurately and timely
  • Assist/Perform New Hire Orientation (NHO)
  • Maintain positive and professional communication
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment is maintained at all times in accordance with Food Safety Guidelines
  • Collaborates with Safety Officer, Safety Technician, Safety Coordinator, and Director
  • Learn and maintain proper use of personal protection equipment (P.P.E.)
  • Working knowledge of Worker's Compensation
  • Maintaining confidential documents
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Sense of urgency, ability to meet deadlines, and attention to detail
  • Experience in food production, especially Organic, Non-GMO, Kosher and Halal environments preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong Communication, Collaboration and Teamwork Skills
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
  • OSHA 10 (Cal-OSHA General Industry) certification

Position Requirements:


  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Proficient in reading, speaking, and writing in English for the purpose of record keeping, safety, and quality training processes
  • Willing to work in any of our operating locations (Arbuckle and Woodland)
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • Have the ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Able to work in all weather conditions
  • Must be willing and able to occasionally work overtime hours during the week and/or on weekends and holidays
