Description

Duties:


  • Serves as a Security Specialist with multiple assigned responsibilities for personnel security, information security, and foreign disclosure.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of command policies and procedures to support a Personnel Security program.
  • Administers the Information Security Program to ensure the safeguarding of national security information.
  • Conducts regular security survey inspections to ascertain organizational adequacy and conformance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Conditions of Employment:


  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 60085, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required approximately 25% or less of the time.
  • May require the ability to obtain and maintain a valid government issued drivers license.
  • May require the use of protective clothing or equipment mandated by the Safety and Environmental Office.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. Must obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within the first two years of employment.

  • To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as:
1) experience with personnel security that includes reviewing, evaluating, and adjudicating reports of investigations, personnel files, and other records to determine whether to grant, deny, revoke, suspend, or restrict security clearances consistent with national security and/or suitability issues AND 2) experience with information security principles, concepts, laws, regulations and directives pertaining to classified information to ensure the classified or sensitive information or material is properly safeguarded.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09).


  • Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligencerelated security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
