RUSH Construction is a leading General Contractor committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and health for our employees and partners.

We are dedicated to creating a safe work environment and are looking for a diligent and experienced Site Safety and Health Officer to join the client's team for the duration of a specific project.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes the area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.
  • Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports. Report mishaps and near misses.
  • Use and maintain OSHA's Form 300 to log workrelated injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors and make them available to the Contracting Officer upon request. Post and maintain Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board.
  • Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
  • Attend the preconstruction meeting, prework meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic inprogress meetings.
  • Review the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for compliance with EM US Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual), and approve, sign, implement, and enforce them.
  • Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings.
  • Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.
  • Ensures the requirements of 29 CFR are met for the project.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety and health role, preferably in the Construction Industry.
  • Indepth knowledge of OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Possesses the required training, experience, and qualifications in accordance with EM Section 01.A.17, and all associated subparagraphs.
  • Proven experience in accident investigation and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Additional Requirements:


  • Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret Security clearance.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must pass preemployment drug screening.
