THE ROLE:

NextGen America is seeking applicants for the National Organizing and States Director role. This person would manage the eight current state programs, as well additional states if we grow.

We are searching for someone who is a strong manager and coach, experienced in organizing strategy, and excellent at coordination between departments.

This role will report to the Senior Campaigns Director.

WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE:


  • Provide daytoday management of the instate teams in their State Pod
  • Provide handson support to develop and execute our electoral plans, including voter registration, mobilization, and other programming across our states
  • Write organizing and voter contact strategy plans for our work on and off campuses
  • Help craft weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals for state field programs, including voter registration, canvass programs, and campus teambuilding metrics
  • Be responsible for holding state directors and their staffs accountable and for reporting progress to the VP, Campaign Strategy and Senior Campaigns Director, including management of daily progress to goal and accomplishments
  • Support states' development of instate best practices for systems and processes to run strong field programs
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and managements of individual state directors
  • Works alongside the Senior Campaigns Director to serve as a coordinator between distributed, digital, operations, data, and other departments to ensure we're running unified and collaborative programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ABOUT YOU:


  • 5+ years of organizing experience, with at least 2 cycles managing organizing staff and/or senior state staff
  • Experience in writing organizing plans
  • Strong management skills and positive attitude towards coaching and developing staff
  • Very well organized; excellent written, verbal and presentation communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and outside organizations and be able to multitask without sacrificing quality of work
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to foster a cooperative, teamoriented work environment
  • Experience working with VAN or Votebuilder is required; EveryAction experience a plus
  • Extensive experience with Google Drive and Google Sheets is strongly recommended
  • Comfortable working remotely in a highly collaborative distributed workforce setting

  • Experience in distributed organizing programs
  • Experience organizing in communities of color and prior training in antioppression, equity and inclusion organizing
  • Experience with nonpartisan issue and electoral organizing
  • Experience working on youth organizing programs
  • Familiarity with online organizing tactics, including peertopeer text messaging and social media organizing.

SALARY INFORMATION:

The salary for this position will be $122,000.00.
