- POSITION SUMMARY
- The Surgery Secretary assists in the maintenance of the surgery schedule through computer logging and scheduling as needed.
He/she is responsible for assisting in maintaining the communication function of the control desk and performs assigned clerical duties of the Surgery Department.
He/She will assist in receptionist, secretarial, and requisitioning functions for the department.This person is able to provide the Operating Room with continual updated surgery scheduling information on a daily basis, and is available to assist with special projects as necessary.
He/She performs miscellaneous duties related and other duties as assigned. He/She reports to the nurse in charge of Surgery who reports to the Manager of Surgery for Surgical Services. - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

- Educational Requirements
- High School/GED with completion of Medical Terminology preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Experience Requirements
- Ward Secretary experience in an acute hospital setting is desirable.
- Special Skills or Training Requirements
- Must have computer skills/ understanding of Excel/ Microsoft word, ability to run graphs as requested.

keyboard and computer trained, able to function with little supervision in a complex, stressful setting, able to move quickly in response to emergency situations in the Operating Room and do other duties as requested or assigned.
