The ASC Business Office Consultant (Peoria) will be responsible for the coordination of the daily activities of the schedulers and business office staff with effective decision making to manage daily functions of the surgical center operations.

Reports to the ASC Nurse Manager

Principal Responsibilities

  • Verify that sufficient information is available for accurate verification and eligibility and that all information is entered correctly into the estimator tool. This may require direct contact with the physician and/or patient.
  • Assist with the creation and revision of preference cards as needed.
  • Responsible for the review and submission of encounters
  • Coordinate with purchasing the data entry of materials.
  • Evaluate reports within SIS including but not limited to quality measures, volumes, costing, financials, and scheduling.
  • In conjunction with the manager, formulate and implement departmentlevel annual budgets. Create accountability to annual budgets, both operational and capital.
  • Maintain the personnel database and costs associated to personnel in SIS.
  • Assume role of staff personnel when needed.
  • Coordinate with manager to ensure orders and discharge instructions are updated online.
  • Assist with maintenance of physician block schedules and changes.
  • Coordinate daily and monthly schedules/assignments for scheduling staff.
  • Act as a resource person and delegate staff assignments.
  • Ensure adequate stock of office supplies and forms.
  • Complete daily schedule review to ensure case accuracy and conflict monitoring.
  • Review case scheduling report for cases not appropriate for ASC.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training and accomplishments as required by policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • College level classes preferred. Two (2) years healthcare office experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities .

  • Must be able to work well with others, including patients, physicians, and other Clinic employees.
  • Ability to work well under stress.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior.
  • Business and Computer knowledge is essential. Manual dexterity required for use of keyboard.

Working Environment

  • Office environment
  • Some bending, stretching and light manual lifting required. Requires sitting for long periods of time.
