Job Summary

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Observes and promotes safe work practices and procedures
Directs and serves as Head Cook in the preparation of food according to standardized recipes and established food preparation procedures
Assesses the appropriate quantity of food to order, prepare, and serve according to the projected meal count.

-Receives and verifies all deliveries and refuses unsatisfactory products or services -Prepares invoices for payment in a timely manner according to established resources -Ensures the proper storage of food and supplies provides instruction, directs, and organizes the performance responsibilities of other food service workers -Directs, supervises and evaluates all kitchen cleaning functions -Report any personal injuries and/or accidents to the proper authority Supervises food service functions to ensure the food is served in a safe and sanitary environment

Prepare attractive, appetizing, and nutritious meals. Accurately completes and submits all required daily, weekly, and monthly food service reports Attends scheduled manager meetings and/or inservice training to improve skills and knowledge of job expertise Adheres to uniform and personal hygiene requirements Communicates effectively with the Superintendent/Principal, and the Business Manager keeping them informed of operational concerns Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect staff, students, equipment, materials and facilities Complies with and supports all school, state, and federal regulations and policies Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Principal Manages all state and federal meal program applications and audits

Candidate must possess any combination of education or experience listed:

High School Diploma (GED) and at least three (3) years of documented relevant food service experience
Associate degree with a major in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts or business, and at least one (1) year documented food experience
Food Handling Certificate

Comments and Other Information

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Central kitchen environment, subject to continuous walking and standing for long periods of time, continuous reaching, stooping, lifting, bending, and pushing; may be required to withstand long periods of exposure to hot or cold temperatures.

The ability to withstand temperature variances common to food service facilities is required. Ability to handle complaints, have a positive attitude, communicate effectively with others, and work with limited supervision. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
