***:Responsible for all aspects of marine rigging includes installation, removal, inspection, sales support, project work and equipment operation. May be asked to work in other departments.RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
- Spring Season
- Unrack, prep, step, tune, rig spars, and their sailing systems. Bend sails on, rig boat and running rigging. Leave boats rigging systems neat and well presented for customer.
- Fall Season
- Hand sails, flake, label, and stow. Unstep masts, inspect rigs, inspect rigging systems, and store spars for winter.
- Generate work from rigging inspections for winter, put together estimates, communicate/work with service manager.
- Winter work
- Build new running and standing rigging, service rigging components, i.e.
- Furlers, winches, etc. This may also include ground tackle systems, splicing rodes, servicing windlasses, etc. Work with subcontractors to get other rigging components serviced, for example rod rigging, and hydraulic systems.
- Other duties when needed may also include helping with project work. i.e., deck hardware removal and reinstallation.
- May be asked to work in other departments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Some heavy equipment operation experience, preferred but not required.
- Must be able to follow directions and work well within large groups of people.
- Must be able to meet the requirements of the schedule, i.e. being at work as scheduled and on time.
- Basic understanding of marine electrical systems
- Must wear personal protection equipment as needed.
- Must not have a fear of heights.
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Fork lift
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Outdoors most of the time
- Occasional extreme indoor and outdoor temperatures.
- Occasional exposure to extreme heights.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
- Flexibility to work in the standing, squatting, or kneeling position, as well as reaching overhead with occasional twisting and bending while performing any of the above tasks.
- Stair and ladder climbing is required.
- Ability to work in small spaces.
- Minimal lifting required above 50 lbs.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
- Schedule is Monday-Thursday from 6am to 430pm or Monday-Friday 7am to 330p.
- During the Spring and Fall Seasons and from time to time it may be necessary to work additional hours or on weekends.
- Must work as part of a team.
- Must be punctual.
