Company Description:

At TOMRA, we recognize the importance of sustainable resource management.

With only 9% of the world's resources being used in a circular manner, there is a great opportunity for improvement.

As a leader in providing cutting-edge solutions for recycling, mining, and food industries, TOMRA is uniquely positioned to drive the Circular Economy and promote sustainable thinking globally.

We strive to be a thought leader, inspiring active change and promoting a more sustainable way of thinking.

Job Description:

The main feed belt is a crucial component of TOMRA's sensor-based sorters, responsible for transporting materials through the detection system and towards the ejection system's actuators.

However, environmental conditions and material load can cause mechanical stress on the subcomponents of the conveying system, leading to performance degradation and the need for frequent replacements.

This can result in unplanned downtime and financial losses for the company operating the sorter.

To address this issue, we are seeking a master's thesis student to explore the possibility of predicting the end of life of conveyor system components and notifying customers in advance for scheduled replacements.

This will involve analyzing data from existing and additional sensors attached to the sorting system, such as for vibration, forces, temperatures, and power consumption.
