GENERAL DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Greet all customers with a pleasant, welcoming attitude and direct them appropriately
Assist with client check-in for spay/neuter and other shelter appointments
Assist customers with Shelter Diversion including owner surrender attempts and found animals
Direct calls to partner organizations, including but not limited to: Operation Catnip, Alachua County Animal Services and other resources as needed.
Assist callers with donations and inquiries pertaining to special contributions such as memorial donations
Receive, organize, and distribute donations, both monetary and goods
Retrieve mail and packages daily and distribute to appropriate staff member *Paying special attention to perishable/RUSH items.
Maintain general appearance and organization of lobby and front desk areas, including but not limited to: daily garbage removal and weekly disinfecting of floors, counters, desk, and front door
Assist clients with the Community Food Bank
Assist with counseling and processing adoptions and fosters as needed
Work with, support, delegate task to volunteers as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree or higher education preferred, equivalent work experience considered
Experience in high-volume customer service environment
Knowledge of animal welfare advocacy desired
Positive attitude and out-going personality
Passion for animal welfare and the mission set forth by HSNCF
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Effective communicator both in speech and writing, specifically in tense or emotional situations
Organized, detail-oriented multi-tasker who is comfortable working independently
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be in good health.
Any allergic condition that would be aggravated from exposure or through contact with animals or chemicals used to sanitize facilities, vehicles or equipment, is a disqualification.
May be exposed to hostile or abusive members of the public.Must be able to deal with an often times emotion-charged public and carry a fast paced and changing workload which at times can be stressful.
By nature of the job, there is occasional exposure with dead, injured, sick, unruly, vicious, and/or dangerous animals in addition to exposure to parasites and infectious diseases.
Must be available and willing to work such weekends, holidays, overtime, and attend mandatory training and meetings as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
