This position reports directly to the University Bursar and is located in River Forest, IL.


Responsibilities include:


Operations

  • Assist the Bursar in training and developing cashier, Student Accounts representative, and student workers.
  • Set up and manage in house all payment plans to avoid collection activity.
  • Monitor the cashier in accurately and properly reporting all payments to their respective accounts.
  • Support the department by handling escalated service requests as needed.
  • Maintain weekly student refunds to remain in compliance with federal regulation.
  • Train staff with daytoday processes and new procedures to ensure an efficient workforce.
  • Must have a working understanding of the roles of Student Business Services and assume these roles in their absence.

Student Accounts

  • Assists Accounting department with bank account reconciliations and reconciliation of monthly external collections.
  • Generate semester billing for current students.
  • Investigate and resolve billing related issues.
  • Manage web information posted on the Concordia Website or portal as it relates to Business Services, such as refund policies or other documents as needed.
  • Monitor internal collection process, including negotiating payment plans for the department and transfer files to external collection when necessary.
  • Review and approve collection accounts of former students with an outstanding balance.
  • Prepare analysis report on external collections

Skillsets

  • Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills
  • Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Bookkeeping knowledge
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with stakeholders
  • Ability to manage conflict with students, parents, and other customers
  • Organized, detailoriented and able to effectively multitask
  • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to prioritize and work under strict deadlines
  • Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and Concordia University Chicago

Experience Required:


  • 2 or more years of experience in a business office environment
  • Supervisory experience and/or training

Experience Preferred:


  • 1 year of Higher Education experience
  • Banner experience

Education:
Bachelor's Degree Required

Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
