Description

Job Title: Cardiac Device Technician

A Cardiac Device Technician is needed to provide skilled interrogation and re-programming services for Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED), commonly known as pacemakers and ICDs among others. Patients with these cardiac devices may require in-person, remote, or phone-based assistance. The technician will conduct initial device analysis, generate preliminary reports, and bring urgent issues to the attention of healthcare providers.

Responsibilities:

Interrogate, reprogram, and analyze Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED) as per physician orders.
Perform acute and chronic threshold testing.
Conduct clinical analysis of pacemakers and ICD patients both in clinic and remotely.
Utilize various device programmers like Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and St. Jude Medical.
Document procedures and findings in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Communicate physician recommendations to patients regarding device adjustments.
Coordinate alternative device interrogations and home-based monitoring programs.
Support Cardiac Monitoring Center operations as necessary.
Perform device reprogramming during Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy clinics.
Demonstrate expertise in electrocardiograph monitoring and device analysis.
Knowledge of implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) interrogation.
Recognize normal device function and programming during CIED implant procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum two years of experience in Cardiac Device or related CIED industry.
High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited Cardiovascular or Allied Health Training program.
Basic Life Support certification.
Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CCI) within 6 months of hire.

Additional Requirements:

Experience with companies like Biotronic, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and St. Jude.
Expertise in cardiac pacemaker and AICDs or relevant experience as a Cardiovascular technologist.
Knowledge of Cardiovascular terminology.
Attention to detail, proficiency in keyboard use, and staying updated with device management trends.
Strong communication and patient education skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification preferred.
Prior experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR).
IBHRE certification preferred.
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
