Customer Service Representative


Location:
Laboratory Alliance of Central New York; Corporate Suite; Syracuse, New York


Hours:
Primary hours: M-F 9:30 am to 6:00 pm with a Saturday rotation 8 am-4:30 pm**
(1 every 5 weeks).

Occasional coverage for other Customer Service shifts:


7:30 am-4:00 pm, 10:30-7:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Shift differential

incentive for the 2:00 pm-10:30 pm hours.

Laboratory Alliance is the area's largest state-licensed laboratory, providing clinical and anatomic pathology testing to a 16-county region in Central New York.

As the laboratory of choice for most local healthcare providers, more than 10 million tests are performed annually at our laboratories at our Operations Center in Liverpool and at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y.

***: Under the direction of the Customer Service Manager and Department Senior Management, the Customer Service Representative may have frequent contact with patients, hospital employees, physicians, pathologists, nursing personnel, visitors, laboratory personnel, vendors, and regulatory or accrediting agencies.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Providing fast, accurate information upon request as well as answering customer questions and resolving customer service issues; must be attentive to detail, possess analytical skills, and demonstrate the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; and must be able to promote and demonstrate a strong, professional commitment to exceptional customer service and maintain patient/client confidentially at all times.

Other duties, as assigned.


EDUCATION:


High School Diploma or equivalent; previous customer service experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the Central Receiving Area and/or related work field preferred.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:


The work environment is primarily an office setting with low/no exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a Healthcare environment.

Frequently required to perform duties associated with the use of a computer and other office equipment; to communicate and exchange accurate information with other staff and clients in person and over the phone; and determine and detect differences in size, color, numbers, and letters.

Occasionally required to move about from office to office, position one's self lower and higher to access files, and have the ability to move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 30 pounds.


SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Strong communication skills with an appreciation for quality customer service, ability to adapt to changing workload and stressful situations. Strong computer skills preferred. Experience in patient registration, order entry functions, billing practices, and scanning software. Extensive knowledge of diagnostic, therapeutic and disease terminology. Requires the use of equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and fax machines. Customer Service Representative's must have excellent organizational and planning skills. Ability to work with accuracy while paying attention to detail and work with mínimal supervision.


SALARY RANGE:
$ $19.00 DOE
