    About the Company
    This company was founded under the belief manufacturing in zero-gravity is critical to unlocking new materials. They are actively working on spacecraft and technologies to make this possible and expand humanity's manufacturing capabilities. While their vision is big, the steps to get there are technically reasonable and operationally feasible. Their conops are clear and use cases have been proven out over decades of ISS-based research and development.

    Responsibilities
    Design, build, test, and fly spacecraft including satellites and atmospheric reentry vehicles
    Full ownership of the vehicle mechanical systems design including the primary and secondary structures
    Develop test plans for parts through development, qualification and acceptance testing.
    Required Skills
    Teamwork skills to solve problems in a collaborative environment

    Ability to scope projects including:
    requirements capture and initial design trades, given open-ended problems
    Experience with full cycle for mechanical systems, structures, and mechanism: design, build, test, fly cycle
    Hands-on experience with machining and manufacturing
    Knowledge of electro-mechanical mechanicals including motors, valves, servo devices, and fluid control components
    Experience working in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment with engineering hardware
    Understanding of system impacts to component design decisions including packaging, thermal, environmental, and loads
    Basic Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
    Experience with CAD, FEA, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software packages
    5+ years of hands-on experience with complex mechanical systems
    5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis
    Understanding GD&T and manufacturing processes
    Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
    Preferred Qualifications
    Master's degree in an engineering or related technical discipline
    Demonstrated understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of complex mechanical systems
    Logistical Requirements
    To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) the candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
    This is not a remote position
