Fennemore is seeking a full-time CONTROLLER to support our growing Finance Department in Phoenix, AZ.

Reporting directly to the chief financial officer, the CONTROLLER will spearhead our financial, accounting, and payroll operations, ensuring the integrity of our accounting processes and reports, driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, and providing vital financial insights to steer the firm's direction and growth.

The CONTROLLER will have direct oversight over a team of eight (8) individuals in the accounting department, payroll department, and external banking, payroll, and tax service relationships.


Responsibilities:


  • Accounting Management and Reporting: Lead the preparation and analysis of financial reports and reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Develop and enforce a robust system of internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Treasury and

Banking Relationship Management:
Cash management and cash flow enhancement.

  • Leadership of

Financial Operations:

Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the accounting and payroll departments ensuring a seamless integration of financial operations and fostering a high-performance team culture.


  • Audit and

Tax Preparation:
Facilitate any audit process and tax preparation, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all financial obligations and reporting.

  • Financial Analysis and

Risk Management:

Offer strategic financial analysis and insights, identify and evaluate trends and risks, and propose actionable strategies to improve financial performance and risk management.


  • Strategic Leadership and Development: Mentor and develop the accounting and payroll teams, promoting skill enhancement, professional growth, and a collaborative work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • At least 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with a preference for backgrounds in professional services environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical, decisionmaking, and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent project management and process documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a diverse team, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and excellence.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in engaging effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • A high degree of integrity, dependability, confidentiality, and a robust sense of urgency and resultsorientation.

Total Rewards:

Bonus Eligibility: 10% - 20%
