JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University, Engineering Library is seeking to hire a Library Assistant.


The Engineering Library seeks a customer service-oriented individual to provide assistance at the reference and circulation desk for summer 2024 and also for fall 2024.


Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to library users; performing circulation transaction functions; opening and/or closing the library, Course Reserves, reference, and online collections; shelving library materials, shelf-reading and maintaining collections; miscellaneous clerical, technological, and problem-solving activities and projects assigned by or in absence of full-time staff; and answering general information and basic reference questions.


This is a part-time position that will work an assigned weekly schedule with the option to take extra shifts when they become available.

Dependability and arriving promptly when assigned to work are part of the role. The library is located at 325 Hammond Building, Main Campus.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).

The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
