_Paraprofessional (Autism Special Education) - Rogers Park Neighborhood, Chicago, IL_

$21.00/hr, Monday-Friday


PACTT Learning Center in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood is seeking Paraprofessionals (Teacher Aides) who will provide classroom assistance to students with autism in a therapeutic day school setting.

Paraprofessionals at PACTT provide valuable and dynamic educational services to the students we serve.


About PACTT:

PACTT educational, residential, and vocational programs support children and adults with autism.

At PACTT, our mission is to assist individuals with autism in becoming as independent as possible with the ability to integrate effectively into their homes and community.

PACTT's Therapeutic Day School provides individualized educational, behavioral, social and communication supports to students with autism, age 6-21. Our low student-staff ratio and small class sizes allow for regular small group and individual instruction. One-size-fits-all curriculum simply doesn't work.

At PACTT, we create a teaching program that uses a variety of research-based practices to meet the unique needs of each individual student.

Paraprofessionals play an important role working with Special Education Teachers ensuring that each student is able to achieve their individual educational goals.


Job Qualifications:


  • Associate's Degree or higher (preferred)
  • High School degree/equivalent (required)
  • Valid Illinois Paraprofessional Educator License (preferred)
  • At least one year experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Must have an aspiration to help others and possess a strong moral character.

Essential Functions:


  • Provide a supportive educational environment for students.
  • Help students improve skills in basic academic areas such as reading, writing, math and social studies.
  • Help students develop and improve social interaction skills.
  • Implement specialized programs in areas of communication, socialization and behavior management.
  • Assist with and teach independent living skills.
  • Assist with personal selfcare for students as needed.
  • Accompany students to various community activities.
