Legal and Technical Advisor for the Department of Insurance and Legal Affairs in Lakewood, CA

Responsibilities:

  • The Department of Insurance and Legal Affairs handles legal and procedural issues related to insurance and contribution law for all carriers of the German Pension Insurance. The focus of this position is on legal and organizational matters related to counseling and advice (including retirement planning) as well as the joint service hotline of the pension insurance carriers. The department coordinates statements on draft laws, manages standardized texts for application forms, decisions, and informational letters, leads and supports expert groups, and conducts training events. The role also involves developing user requirements and managing applications for the counseling and advice department.

Your tasks:

  • You will contribute to the design of fundamental and crosscutting tasks within the department, including facilitating decisionmaking processes within the scope of Section 138 of the German Social Security Code (SGB VI).
  • You will handle fundamental and procedural questions that span across carriers in the counseling and advice department.
  • You will fully manage committees, prepare committee documents and minutes, as well as circulars and publications.
  • You will participate in the development and coordination of statements on legal issues, reform proposals, and legislative initiatives.
  • You will prepare meetings, negotiations, and events within and outside of the German Pension Insurance and participate in them.
  • You will contribute to public relations by responding to inquiries from press offices.
