This position provides support for the College of Lake County's (CLC) student-run restaurant and Culinary (Hospitality & Culinary Management) lab classes held at CLC Grayslake campus and the Brae Loch facility.

The position is responsible for management of the instructional supply budget, ordering and inventory, and supervision of student workers.

    Required Qualification(s)
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience
  • Successful completion of a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours in culinary arts lab courses.
  • Successful completion of a food service sanitation course.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Desired Qualification(s)

  • Work experience in purchasing and inventory management.
  • Work experience in restaurant operations.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

1) Sets up demonstration materials and equipment necessary for the instructor to conduct the daily lab demonstration.

  • 2) Verifies all small equipment and lab supplies as needed by the instructor.
  • 3) Assists instructors in the setup of the necessary small hand tools and equipment in which to conduct the class.
  • 4) Assists in locating or retrieving of equipment or lab supplies as needed during the class.
  • 5) Assists instructor in providing supplemental guidance for students who need extra time and/or attention
  • 6) Coordinates and supervises student setup and cleanup activities.
