Audio / Visual Project Manager
Primary Function:
As an A/V Project Manager at i.e. Smart Systems, your role involves leading projects with cutting-edge audio and video systems.
Collaborating closely with A/V, cabling, and security teams, you'll provide strategic guidance for the successful implementation of our cutting-edge infrastructure solutions across diverse clients nationwide, aligning with their unique visions.
Reporting to the A/V Division Manager, the A/V Project Manager (PM) holds responsibility for all facets of project management, including estimate & contract review, and scheduling for projects in the Houston/Gulf Coast area and other regions in the US.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage projects ranging in value from $10,000 to $10,000,000.
- Provide preconstruction assistance in the tendering of subcontract bid proposals, preparation of cost estimates, and ensuring contractual obligations of projects are understood and met by all parties.
- Establish a Project Management Plan for each approved project, defining the project's goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, staffing levels, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown structure, milestones, and deliverables.
- Manage Drawing/Design Development, Material Procurement/Delivery, and Construction process through to invoicing in order to ensure the successful completion of the project on time and within budget.
- Ensure all contractual issues are resolved and dealt with in a timely manner.
- Manage internal and/or external contractors or trades onsite as required.
- Coordinate requirements for equipment/tool rentals and company equipment/tools.
- Coordinate Site Supervisors and project workforce needs with the Division Manager.
- Plan all project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using PMI methods.
- Track all project costs weekly and/or monthly to ensure completion within budget; evaluate any necessary budget modifications utilizing EVM methodologies.
- Identify and resolve conflicts within design, purchasing, and construction.
- Interface with client representatives, architect representatives, subcontractors, etc., as required.
- Manage trade contractor site meetings, RFI's, invoices, and control document process.
- Ensure that Work Safe Practices are being followed during site visits.
- Verify the accuracy of change orders and ensure that change orders are processed to completion.
- Perform additional assignments per the Division Manager's direction.
- Some travel is required.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- Problemsolver, multitasker, and selfmotivator, holding a high degree of integrity.
- Possess a high level of energy, flexibility, and focus.
- Thrive in a fastpaced commercial construction environment, whether working independently or in collaboration with a team.
- Ability to create proposals, change orders, or other necessary paperwork.
- Aptitude for success in a technical and troubleshootingdriven business.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct handson experience leading successful commercial construction projects or projects in similar industries.
- PMP designation or the ability to obtain it within 1 year is preferred.
- Experience with MS Project software or alternative scheduling software.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings, and plans.
- Solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques.
- Strong management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced excel skills.
- Knowledge of SAGE 300, Viewpoint, SAP, or an alternative ERP system would be considered an asset.
- Experience with Autodesk Build software is an asset.
