THE POSITION:


Are you a skilled professional in the field of electronics who enjoys sharing your talents to help others learn a trade? The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Waymart is seeking a highly motivated and experienced person who enjoys teaching to join our team as a Corrections Electronics Trade Instructor.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


As an Electronics Trade Instructor, you will maintain an inmate work crew for the purpose of instructing, coaching, and educating the inmate in the field of electronics.

You will provide on-the-job training and shop instruction for the vocational training of inmates in the electronics trade.


You will be instructing inmates in a variety of electronics, which include general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and installation of new electronic fixtures and equipment.

You will also be responsible for maintaining a working knowledge and ability concerning electronic components of cell doors and sliders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment (40hour work week)
  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with 30minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Three years of experience in the testing and repair of electronic equipment;
    or:
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:


  • You must pass a background investigation.
