Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a
Manager Engineering, 3 to join our diverse team of professionals. This leadership position can be located onsite in
Rancho Bernardo, CA.


This position oversees and manages multiple technical disciplines to include Reliability, Fault Diagnostics, Maintainability, Supportable Low Observables (SLO) and Obsolescence Management within the Product Support Technical Team.

Responsibilities include setting and operating to objectives and providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives and company policy.


Program Manager responsibilities include:
planning, risk management, and project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for related Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements on a large system contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large technical services-type contract
Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and evaluates / manages all status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • The Supportability lead provides technical capabilities throughout the full product life cycle in these areas, as required by contract: Obsolescence Management, Technical Data, Reliability Maintainability & Testability (RMT), Fault diagnostics, Maintenance Planning, and Supportable Low Observables (SLO)support.
  • Leading the disciplines by championing diversity, equity, and inclusion to foster a highperforming, motivated and engaged culture.
  • Supporting National Product Support technical team leads, as needed.
This position will report functionally to the Palmdale Product Support Lead. The position will be on both the program and sector National Product Support discipline leadership teams.


Key leadership responsibilities include:

  • Providing guidance, shaping the Product Support strategic vision and direction, as well as providing oversight within the organization.
  • Leading the successful cost, schedule, and technical execution of Product Support work scope on the program.
  • Partnering with Leadership and other Technical Team Leads to collect meaningful metrics and collaborating to utilize those metrics to improve processes and tools that will result in improved affordability and quality on the program.
  • Identifying organizational risk and plans to manage the risk. Address performance shortfalls through root cause and corrective action assessments and develop containment and longterm corrective action plans that include longterm verification of successful improvement and sharing of lessons learned across the engineering organization.
  • Defining staffing requirements to maintain the Product Support staffing levels as needed to support the program and associated captures in collaboration with the Product Support functional homeroom.
  • Driving improved employee engagement and appreciation through verbal, written, and tangible recognition, events, and personal interactions.
  • Overseeing program reviews, independent technical reviews, program standup reviews, process improvement plans, and proposal review and signoff.
  • Leading customer engagement activities with organizations dedicated to the logístical support and sustainment of our products after we deliver them.
  • Ensure all technical work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organizations objectives and schedules.
