Minimum Qualifications - Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics, plus six (6) years of experience in a field related to SCADA and/or Baggage Handling Process Control work, including two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity.
- Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid State of Texas Class "C" driver license.

POSITION
OVERVIEW
- Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for managing the realtime Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) Baggage Handling Systems.
- Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
- 1. Manages, trains, and leads staff that supports SCADA systems.
- 2. Oversees daily evaluations and realtime system performance and operations.
- 3. Leads technicaldisa.issions on complex systems, making recommendations to management and users.
- 4. Determines scheduled maintenance program and project replacement of equipment.
ASSESSMENT - A skills assessment will be required for this position.
DRIVER'S REQUIREMENT* - This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA.
- This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the
City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation (DRE
) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirtysix (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City's Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

Preferred Qualifications - Indepth knowledge of Airport SCADA systems specific to Baggage Handling Systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and ability to read, troubleshoot, and modify ladder logic.
- Experience planning, scheduling, and overseeing SCADA systems.
- Experience using Computer Based Maintenance Systems
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Manages, trains, and leads staff that supports 24/7 realtime control system integrity and ensures the highest operational reliability and system availability. This requires afterhours oncall support to meet the response requirements for restoring the mission critical system.
- Oversees daily evaluations and tuning of realtime control systems operations to accomplish the best system performance; communicates with dispatchers, engineers, and field crews; and troubleshoots and performs problem analysis and resolution as required.
- Leads technical discussions on complex system issues; makes recommendations and suggestions to management and users; interacts closely with SCADA vendors or thirdparty technology vendors in order to keep abreast of the latest technology environment.
