Description

The Safety and Training Coordinator is directly responsible for managing the safety and vocational training, loss prevention and risk associated with construction projects and company operations.

The Safety and Training Coordinator will proactively implement the Company's safety and training program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.


The Safety and Training Coordinator supports the Field Managers in ensuring each construction project and offices are conducting operations in a safe and efficient manner consistent with our processes to ensure the protection of our employees, clients, subcontractors, and the public.

The Safety and Training Coordinator ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, and local safety related regulations.

The Safety and Training Coordinator sets the tone for corporate safety and risk management, demonstrates strong leadership skills, works well in a team environment, has excellent communication skills, and strives to enrich the Company Culture.

Promote Safety as the #1 Priority for Merritt Contracting INC

Coordinates and or Conducts On Board program relating to Safety and Training.

Conduct Jobsite Safety Inspections and Collaborates with Customer Reps regarding Safety

Maintains written Safety Program

Supports Estimating in establishing costs of Job Specific Requirements that may arise.

Supports Pre-Con Safety Requirements for Contract

Manage Light Duty work program to ensure injured employees can be assigned without missing days of work.

Ensure Accident Investigations are completed in a timely and accurate fashion.

Loss Prevention

  • Ensure processes are developed and followed to minimize the company's exposure to theft, damage or waste.
Work Comp Management

  • Manage work Comp through assigning LD and followup with care givers to ensure we are getting employee back to unrestricted work as soon as possible.
OSHA Reporting

  • Maintain all reports that are required by law.
Assist in developing and implementing programs that increase our safety awareness and vocational skills used in our field operations.

Coordinates and Runs Monthly Safety Meeting

  • Collaborate with admin to set the agenda for the monthly safety meeting by reviewing the agenda and providing content.
Trains employees to allow for a basic understanding of the specific crew that person is being assigned to. As well as OSHA 10-hour administration.
