Program Assistant Job Description

Position:

Victim Witness Program Assistant

Starting Salary:

$16.83 per hour

Work Hours: 40 hours a week

Job Type:

Full-time

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of the position is to provide assistance in the Victim-Witness Program, focused on reducing victim trauma and promoting cooperation with the criminal justice system. Responsible for clerical tasks and delivering services under the Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act. Reports to the Victim-Witness Program Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ability to maintain filing and record-keeping systems for confidential information
• Provide case status updates to victims and witnesses
• Offer referral support and guidance to victims and witnesses for community resources
• Demonstrate professional communication skills
• Experience in docketing and calendar management
• Problem-solving and information gathering skills
• Familiarity with criminal justice systems
• Assist clients and perform clerical tasks effectively
• Work independently with sound judgment
• Provide support to victims and witnesses
• Learn and proficiently use various programs and systems
• Maintain professionalism in stressful situations
