    Belmont Charter Network is a family of 5 community schools centered on the central mission to promote the academic, social and emotional well-being of each child.     Position Summary:

    The Head of School (HoS) Responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and management of a community school. HoS provides a clear vision for learning for all students; ensures a safe, secure and orderly learning environment; and cultivates strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners. HoS are expected to promote high-quality instructional academic, social and emotional practices, passionately enjoy working with children, and believe that all students can achieve. HoS are responsible for selecting and assigning staff, supporting differentiated professional growth and building the capacity of their leadership teams. HoS must collect, analyze and use multiple sources of data to guide continuous improvement in student achievement, manage school operations, and effectively evaluate and develop staff. The Head of School manages a team of school leaders including Assistant Heads of Instruction, Director of School Culture, Operations Manager, and Special Education Managers. This is a 12 month position that is supervised by the Managing Director of School Leadership.

    Core Responsibilities:

    Systems Leadership
    • Drive and support the implementation of Belmont's mission and values to ensure a positive, achievement-focused school culture among teachers, staff, students and families;
    • Manage and support the school leadership team; continually collect various forms of academic, culture, and team data to drive decision making and problem solving;
    • Create, manage, and evaluate operational processes to ensure consistency with the school goals;
    • Oversee family and community involvement in the school community.
    • Act as liaison between Belmont Elementary School, the Community Education Alliance of West Philadelphia and other schools within the network
    • Ensure systems and appropriate oversight is provided around compliance with state and federal regulations for education standards and requirements
    • Develop and implement school policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Oversee daily operations and ensure the school runs efficiently.
    • Develop leadership capacities of direct reports and other school staff
    Instructional Leadership
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
    • Monitor student performance and implement strategies for improvement.
    • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student success.
    • Manage Assistant Heads of School to develop them into strong instructional leaders who drive strong student outcomes.
    • Holds all staff accountable for meeting a high bar for student performance
    • Manage Special Education manager to support students receiving appropriate interventions, modifications, and accommodations
    • Work with interventionists and Assistant Head of School to ensure the academic MTSS process is running smoothly and that students are receiving appropriate interventions
    • Assess curriculum and material needs and communicate to the academic central team.
    School Culture Leadership
    • Foster a culture of respect, inclusivity, and diversity where all students, staff, and community members feel valued and safe.
    • Build relationships, both internally and externally, to promote the community school model including the school health center and social service programs, to ensure students receive all of the benefits of attending a community school.
    • Promote a sense of belonging and pride in the school community through regular celebrations, recognition programs, and positive reinforcement.
    • Encourage open communication and collaboration among all stakeholders to address challenges and resolve conflicts constructively, creating a harmonious school environment.
    • Build a joyful and rigorous school culture focused on learning and academic success
    • Lead school staff to support students' academic and socio-emotional development using a trauma-informed approach
    • Coach and manage the Director of Culture to support their management of the school culture teams in service of a strong student culture and responsive discipline systems
    • Create a culture of achievement through celebrations of student learning and growth
    • Commitment to the service of students and families

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Master's degree preferred, should be working towards School Leadership Certification
    • 2+ years of demonstrated educational leadership, experience as an instructional coach preferred
    • Experience teaching in an urban school setting for a minimum of 3 years
    • Experience managing and implementing school wide cultural systems
    • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34)
    • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
    • Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114)
    • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168)
