Project Technician/Manager (Remote work - Austin Texas)

Job Summary
Provides project management, order preparation, progress reporting, documentation and installation coordination.

Work includes making frequent trips to project sites to field verify site conditions, attend construction meetings and provide technical assistance.

Provides project leadership from conception through product commissioning. Performs all aspects of project management from contract review and acceptance through system design coordination, implementation and verification. Guides the technical aspects of work done in relationship to system installation. Requires independent interpretation of requirements and discussion of problems with various employees and customers.


Job Qualifications (minimum requirements)

Educational Requirements:

Bachelors degree in project management in electrical, mechanical or engineering discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Experience Requirements:

Two to three years post-degree experience.


Other Requirements:

Experience or education in the fields of fire protection, safety management, or other related special hazard protection. Basic understanding of NFPA standard and other related code restrictions. Solid verbal communication skills needed to accurately describe problems and communicate with customers.

Preferred:
Three plus years post-degree experience. Knowledge of CAD, Windows, Word and Excel.


Essential Primary Responsibilities:

Supervises and coordinates activities for the Systems installation department. Prepares, manages and controls the budget including labor, expenses and outside services.

Assigns resources including in house and subcontractor personnel accordingly. Takes responsibility for schedules and sequences project elements coordinates and monitors sub contractor performance, progress and quality.

Prioritizes activities when there is a conflict in resources required.

Reviews projects contracts and design to determine time frame, labor requirements, equipment orders and procedures for accomplishing project completion. Establishes work plan for each portion of the project.

Directs and coordinates activities of project to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.

Reviews contract documents establishing adequate assessment, definition, and capacity to meet contractual requirements.

Systematically analyzes the contract documents, design criteria and equipment necessary to meet contractual requirements.


Performs a site survey with engineering to field verify site conditions, installation requirements and special tool requirements prior to design completion.

Writes commitments and purchase orders for subcontractors and suppliers. Reviews and approves subcontractor and supplier invoices and progress billings. Determines client billing percentages and provides forecasts to operations.


Attends job site meetings and maintain communications with the customer on a daily basis to inform them of the status of his or her order.

Provides project schedule, status reports, milestones and labor forecasts to operations.

Resolves issues with customers such as project scheduling, workmanship, contract compliance, requested design changes or additions, etc.

Provides project handover to the commissioning team including as built drawings.

Manages warehouse and inventory, monitors product receivables and field deliverables.

Provides safety training to all field personnel. Manages injury prevention and vehicle maintenance programs.

Coordinates commissioning and certification tests with the commissioning team, customer, local authority, etc.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars and workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.

Selects and maintains qualified personnel throughout the department. Identifies training needs; initiates development of subordinates; recommends appropriate personnel action. Recommends compensation levels.

Reviews personnel training logs. Provides coaching, counseling, and performance feedback. Coordinates leaves and schedules of staff members. Responds to corrective action issues.

Pay:
$ $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
