    GMA Construction Group

    is seeking an seasoned

    Lead Estimator

    with a strong background in the

    construction industry .

    Lead Estimator will lead the estimation department and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

    The Lead Estimator will lead multiple hard-bid, conceptual, and pre-construction estimates for commercial projects in the Affordable Housing, Education, Healthcare, Aviation, and Federal markets across a national portfolio.


    Responsibilities:
    Substantial industry knowledge and aware of current market conditions and cost trends
    Reading and interpreting documents, contractor/vendor solicitation, analyzing drawings and specifications
    Passion for preconstruction and estimating
    Applicant must be familiar with conceptual and hard bid estimating
    Strong organizational and time management skills
    Must be detail oriented and technically sound with good communication skills
    A Strong work ethic is a must
    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
    Ability to utilize computers, and experienced with Microsoft Office, On Screen takeoff, Bluebeam or other estimating software programs
    Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and coordinate team members
    Maintain a strict high-level of confidentiality regarding financial specifics of projects
    Work with Developers, Construction Managers, and Design Managers to finalize and review estimates
    Develop conceptual cost models based on historical costs
    Maintain client and architect relationships by answering cost-related questions and providing cost trend feedback
    Know overall SQFT costs of construction for different building types and tenants
    Know and track unit costs of construction materials, systems and trades
    Provides functional and administrative oversight of all estimating activities, including: estimate planning, preliminary project schedule, coordination of estimating activities
    Implements estimating policy, procedures, and systems consistent with the company mission and competitive practices
    Ensures that guidelines, policies and procedures are established and implemented for various types of estimates
    Ensures that systems are maintained in a manner that aligns with the established guidelines, policies and procedures
    Qualifications
    Undergraduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineer, architecture, or related field
    10+ years of estimating experience required where you have been the lead estimator for at least half that time
    Less than 10% travel throughout the year is anticipated
