The Surgery Scheduler (SS) is the Physician's navigator.
As a SS you will be responsible for maintaining the surgical days and ensuring patients are properly prepared for surgery.
You must remember that this is a scary day for patients and that they want to have comfort in the person who directs them.
As a SS you will also be responsible for maximizing the day without overbooking the surgeon. It is a constant juggling act, but we know you are up for it.Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates procedure time between patient, physician and surgery center and/or hospital/outpatient surgery center.
- Maintains calendar of surgery and procedure times; follows up with physician to resolve scheduling conflicts in a timely manner.
- Precertifies procedures with insurance company. Faxes patient packets to surgical facilities, including histories and physicals and other doctors orders.
- Keeps track of pending Histories and Physicals and scans patient packets.
- Schedules dispensary patients.
- Obtains necessary special equipment requested by physician for specific procedures.
- Serves as a primary contact for the patient, provides pre
- Works proactively to ensure that all arrangements have been made to ensure a timely and orderly environment for each surgical procedure.
- Follows up with all parties involved to communicate changes in schedule or place of surgery; works proactively to ensure that all changes are handled in an orderly fashion
- Responsible for maintaining complete, accurate, and uptodate scheduling records.
- Maintains current physicians' schedules and ensures that cases are not scheduled when the physician is unavailable.
- Assists with "checkout" functions including future appointment scheduling and verifies all previously entered demographics.
- Performs various administrative and clerical duties required to support these functions and, on an asneeded basis, may be required to perform other tasks.

Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are reflective of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- HS Diploma/ GED Required
- 23 years of surgery scheduling experience
- Ear Nose Throat & Allergy specialty clinic experience preferred
- Must be bilingualfluent in both English and Spanish
- General knowledge of HIPAA and CPT codes
- Must be able to travel within our various Los Angeles based clinics
- Ability to manage a heavy caseload in an organized and efficient manner
- Ability to recognize potential scheduling issues and offer solutions to physicians
- Ability to maintain a working relationship with staff and outside medical facilities
- Ability to read handwritten and transcribed documents in the medical record and interpret information
- Ability to enter complete and accurate data into a computer system

- Sit for long periods at a time
- Use hands and fingers in repetitive motions, daily
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 10 lbs. periodically
- Travel to clinic locations or sites as needed

Pay:
$ $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
