JOB DESCRIPTION:

MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

REPORTS TO:
Office Manager and Doctors


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned:

  • Greet patients.
  • Making sure patients sign in.
  • Ensuring that patient registration sheet is filled out complete and correctly.
  • Photo copying of insurance I.D. cards.
  • Answering phones as needed.
  • Confirm patient appointments and ensure that all necessary Xrays and lab work are already in chart prior to appointment.
  • Medical record filing and chart scanning as needed.
  • Check out patients.
  • Collect copays and fees as needed.
  • Distribute faxes and sort mail.
  • Miscellaneous duties as requested by doctors and practice manager.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:


  • Demonstrate ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from government entities, employees, managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Fluency in Spanish mandatory.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Must be wellorganized, a selfstarter, and possess excellent telephone communications skills.
  • Must have proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be proficient and familiar with electronic medical records programs such as athena.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Must be eventempered and teamspirited a good sense of humor is desirable.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must have the ability to quickly learn diversified software.
  • Must be able to operate multiline telephone systems.
  • Must have a working knowledge of efficient filing systems, office machines, and equipment.
  • Must be able to adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Must be able to make sound independent decisions based on available data.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of personalities in an effective manner.
