Join our team as a MESH (Mental, Emotional, Social Health) Summer Camp Counselor As a counselor, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing tailored support and encouragement to campers with diverse abilities.


Responsibilities:

Individualized Support: Provide personalized support and guidance to campers with special needs, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every camper feels valued and respected.

Activity Adaptation: Collaborate with camp leadership and fellow counselors to adapt camp activities and programming to meet the unique needs and abilities of campers with special needs. Ensure that all campers can participate fully and enjoyably in activities.

Behavioral Support: Implement positive behavior management strategies to support campers in developing social skills, self-regulation, and independence. Offer encouragement and reinforcement to promote positive interactions and growth.

Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open and effective communication with camp leadership, fellow counselors, and campers' families to ensure continuity of care and support. Collaborate with colleagues to address any concerns or challenges that may arise.

Safety and Wellness: Prioritize the physical and emotional well-being of campers with special needs, taking proactive measures to ensure their safety and comfort. Adhere to camp safety protocols and emergency procedures at all times.

Qualifications:


  • Previous experience working with individuals with special needs preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on empathy and patience
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the diverse needs and abilities of individuals with special needs
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and problemsolving skills in a dynamic camp environment
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain certification prior to camp)

Job Types:
Full-time, Temporary


Pay:
From $15.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
