    Description
    The Director of Programming and Education directs the strategic vision for the Museum's community engagement and education programs.

    The Director of Programming and Education is responsible for ensuring program objectives are met and the Museum's mission is integrated into programs and events.

    Major responsibilities will center on program design, execution, and day-to-day management. Supporting program efforts associated with the Museum's major capital expansion project will be a priority.
    Essential Functions
    Design and oversee delivery of new and existing programs (on- and offsite) with content-rich and engaging experiences.
    Establish annual program goals. Develop clear recommendations for program growth and enhancement based on results, audience attendance, implementation challenges, and formal evaluations.
    Build and retain relationships with program partners, sponsors, and vendors.
    Supervise Program Manager(s) and Community Engagement Coordinator and oversee their projects as assigned.

    Develop and bring to scale programs that support the Museum as a dynamic, relevant, and inclusive institution that invites engagement and participation.

    Ensure Museum programs are cutting edge and relevant, benefiting from best practices within the museum field.

    Work with department heads and vendors to develop and execute virtual and in-person marketing strategies to increase visibility, attendance, and support for programs.

    Support organizational strength and sustainability with community partnerships and engagement.
    Financial Monitoring of Programs
    Monitor program budgets to ensure stated targets are met.
    Review and provide feedback on financial performance of programs, assess return on investment.
    Work in tandem with fund development to maximize fundraising opportunities through programming as they arise. Assist with grant writing, fundraising events, membership, and donor and sponsor cultivation.
    Monitoring & Evaluation
    From an operational standpoint, ensure program outcomes are achieved and build associated systems to address challenges and support involvement.
    Define priority data points for programs and carry out systems that enable high quality data collection, protocols, and procedures.
    Compile and report information to benefit the Museum, funders, Board Members, and others.

    Work Environment
    This position operates in an office setting and oversees the execution some outdoor programs. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
    Physical Demands/Strength
    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use repetitive motions. The employee is occasionally required to reach, handle, grasp, talk, and hear.

    Rarely, does the position require standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, feeling, and eye/hand/foot coordination.

    The position requires little physical effort.

    Moderate-high travel required. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver license, proof of auto insurance and vehicle registration.
    Education/Experience
    Masters Degree in History, Music Education, or related field
    Minimum five (5) years of related experience in program development and execution. Arts, contemporary music, or museum studies experience preferred.
    Experience with data management, analysis, and program evaluation
