Media Materials Coordinator

Reports To:
Building Principal


Pay Grade:
Grade 3, Step 1, $15.57 per hour


Schedule: 3.5 hours per day / 5 days per week / School Year Position


Job Summary:

The media materials coordinator will focus on maintaining the media center and computer lab in a way that provides maximum access to learning resources for students and staff.

Works to create and enhance an inviting culture of continuous academic growth for all students.

This is accomplished through operating an efficient and thorough system that organizes, tracks, and accesses and maintains media materials while allowing student access to media and media services.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • 60 college credit hours; or an Associate's or Bachelor's degree; or ETS ParaPro Certification
  • Must be comfortable and competent using applicable technology
  • Must have a demonstrated capacity to be selfdirected, organized, and collaborative
  • A willingness to be trained in the full use of the Follett system
  • Experience working with elementary school age youth

Essential Job Functions:


  • Support learning experiences for students including but not limited to ensuring appropriate use of the media center, reading aloud to students, and discussing books, authors and literacy genres
  • Utilize the Follett system to its fullest capacity in organizing, tracking, accessing, and maintaining media materials
  • Sort returned materials, periodicals, and other items and put them on their designated shelves, in the appropriate files, or in storage areas
  • Maintain, update, and help customize databases
  • Maintain media services equipment
  • Maintain overall order in the media center
  • Work cooperatively with professional staff to continuously improve services
  • Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve personal practice and professional knowledge
  • Fulfill all outlined and related functions professionally, timely, and thoroughly
  • Attending professional learning as requested
  • Consistent and reliable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment).

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus. Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.


Mental Functions:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.

In accordance with the Administrative Support Staff Agreement


Terms of Employment:


The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
