- 5+ years' experience in the EHS field in a manufacturing environment, pharmaceutical preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field; advanced degree or certification is a plus.
- Must have management experience of hazardous waste operations, including compliance oversight and employee training/documentation.
- Expert knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and consensus standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT, Workers' Compensation), inspection procedures, audits, hazard reviews, incident prevention, and incident investigation techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in the use of computers with knowledge of MS office products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of the manufacturing process.
- Communicate EHS policies and procedures clearly and effectively to all employees.
- Identify, develop and conduct required EHS training.
- Lead safety committee and team engagement activities, including frequent employee communications, shop floor meetings, safety recognition initiatives, etc.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential hazards.
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Implement waste reduction initiatives to minimize environmental impact.
- Report on metrics, safety trends and compile data for environmental reporting (Air, Waste, Water).
- Ensure and maintain site emergency response and contingency plans.
- Maintain all required safety, accident, and environmental records and documentation.
- Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
- Verify that safety equipment such as hearing protection and respirators are available to employees and monitor their use of such equipment to ensure proper fit and use.
- Conduct routine inspections, including but not limited to inspections of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, etc. as needed.
- Participate in monthly EHS Council Meeting. Use Global PLD EHS Scorecard to drive performance improvements.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
