    General Accountant - Opportunity at MMLA

    Position: Regular Full-Time Exempt

    Location: Minneapolis, MN 55403

    Description: MMLA is searching for a dedicated individual to join our dynamic team.     This opportunity will be based in our Minneapolis office, providing support to programs and personnel across all office locations. It involves regular communication with colleagues and offers a hybrid work environment that will commence promptly upon extending an offer.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Maintain accurate accounting records for departmental funds, projects, grants, and transactions, handling journal entries.
    • Prepare timely grant expenditure reports and related journal entries.
    • Manage budgetary control accounts, create budgets, and generate budgetary reports.
    • Produce financial projections, program income allocations, and grant-related financial reports, including sub-recipient reporting.
    • Provide periodic and year-end financial reports, variance analyses, and reconciliations.
    • Conduct bank reconciliations, payroll and expenditure analyses, accounts payable invoice processing, and bi-weekly payroll processing.
    • Assist with tax planning, annual tax filing, financial system conversion, and review accounting procedures.
    • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

    Requirements:

    • Four-year accounting degree or four years of relevant experience.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Formulas, Macros, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Abila MIP and/or Blackbaud software.
    • Diverse economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.

    Compensation:

    • Starting from $70,000 annually, depending on experience, plus benefits like family medical and dental insurance, disability coverage, life insurance, retirement plans, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance programs, and generous paid time off.
