Position:

Must be local to San Diego CA
Onsite position.
Must have worked in a pharmaceutical or life science industry as Safety Manager
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures specific to the construction environment, ensuring a safe working environment throughout all project stages.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to proactively identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA standards, life sciences facility safety requirements, and other relevant health and safety regulations.
- Manage and train a team on construction safety practices, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Lead incident investigations, analyze accident reports, and recommend preventative measures to prevent future occurrences in construction settings.
- Coordinate with project managers, regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA), and external contractors to establish and maintain consistent safety standards across all project activities within the life sciences sector.
- Develop and implement risk assessment processes specifically tailored to construction activities, with a focus on mitigating risks associated with life sciences facilities.
- Maintain uptodate knowledge of industry safety trends, legal requirements, and best practices in safety management to ensure ongoing compliance and a proactive approach to safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in safety management, specifically within construction environments.
- Extensive knowledge of construction safety standards, risk management principles, and environmental safety requirements as they pertain to construction projects.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing effective safety programs that demonstrably improve safety outcomes in construction settings.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively train, coach, and motivate teams to adhere to established safety protocols and maintain a culture of safety.
- Experience in the life sciences sector is highly desirable, with a solid understanding of the specific safety challenges associated with construction projects within this industry.

$65.00 per hour
