Description
Our company is currently seeking a Plant Engineer for our power plant facility in New York, NY.The Plant Engineer will be responsible for supporting planned maintenance activities, troubleshooting technical issues, overseeing and assisting with capital and O&M projects, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
The primary goal is to optimize station processes and reliability. The Plant Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager.DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide technical assistance to the operations and maintenance departments to support repairs and maintenance of station equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Assist in planning and executing scheduled outages, including developing and maintaining outage schedules.Act as the Outage Coordinator during scheduled outages, liaising with management, engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
Collaborate with station managers to establish goals and objectives for process improvement and equipment operations.
Assist in the development and optimization of a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to ensure plant equipment operates and is maintained to manufacturer specifications.
Manage O&M and capital projects, including developing Request for Proposal (RFP) packages, reviewing bid evaluations, providing technical recommendations for award, and overseeing contract management and contractor coordination for project completion.
Update and optimize the station's design basis documents and database, such as drawings, system descriptions, and control narratives.Perform incident investigations and root cause analysis as required.
Conduct condition assessments of plant equipment to support ongoing maintenance.
Perform testing, repairs, and preventative maintenance on hydraulic, electrical, and electronic control systems and instrumentation.
Prepare preliminary project work scope, budget, and schedule in collaboration with Managers and Labor Group Supervisors.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
A bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in capital planning, engineering, design, project management, construction management, maintenance support, budgeting, and procurement.
Strong organizational and project management skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and address complex issues.
Familiarity with power plant components and systems, such as boilers, steam turbines, electric generators, transformers, motors, pumps, electrical auxiliaries, and control systems.
Knowledge of failure modes of power plant materials, systems, and components, and experience with non-destructive testing methods.Understanding of power plant systems, mechanical systems, controls, electrical distribution, instrumentation, and relevant codes and standards.
Knowledge of industrial instrumentation and electrical and electronic test equipment.
Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).
Proficiency in MS Office products, including Excel, Word, Access, Project, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
