Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS)


Job Summary:

Responsibilities:


Field Surveys:
Conduct and oversee field surveys to gather accurate and reliable data for transportation projects. Perform boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking as needed.


Project Management:


As a project manager, you will be responsible for leading and executing surveying activities essential to the planning, design, and construction of transportation infrastructure projects.

Your role will involve conducting field surveys, managing survey data, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to the success of clients' initiatives.

Lead and manage land surveying projects related to transportation infrastructure, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget constraints. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define surveying requirements and deliverables.


Data Collection and Management:
Utilize advanced surveying equipment and technology to collect and manage survey data efficiently.

Ensure the accuracy and completeness of survey data for use in project planning and design.


Quality Assurance:
Implement quality control measures to validate the accuracy of survey data.

Conduct checks and reviews to ensure that surveying activities comply with TxDOT standards and guidelines.


Documentation:
Prepare and maintain accurate survey records, including field notes, calculations, and reports.

Generate survey drawings and maps using computer-aided design (CAD) software.


Regulatory Compliance:
Stay informed about TxDOT standards, procedures, and guidelines related to surveying activities.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing land surveying.


Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, and regulatory authorities.

Provide updates on surveying progress and address any concerns or inquiries.


Technology Integration:
Stay current with advancements in surveying technology and recommend the adoption of new tools and methodologies to enhance efficiency.


Safety Awareness:
Prioritize safety protocols during field surveys and ensure the well-being of surveying personnel.

Implement quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy and precision of survey data.

Review and verify survey calculations, reports, and drawings to meet project requirements.


Team Collaboration:
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, and other professionals.

Provide technical guidance and support to surveying staff within the project.


Qualifications:
Current Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor

TxDOT precertified in surveying categories

Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveying, with a focus on transportation projects.

Proficiency in using surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS, and data collectors.

Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, OpenRoads, Microstation and other surveying software.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
