    Manage Fundraising Efforts for the School of Law :
    • The annual gift expectation is set by the Dean of the School of Law collaboratively with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement & External Affairs.
    • Identify, cultivate and play lead role in soliciting and closing major gifts that generate donations of $25,000 and up, primarily from individual friends and alumni as well as corporations
    • Devise and implement the law school's plan for cultivating and soliciting major gifts
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors and/or prospects for the acquisition of gifts from the Law School's most important donors and prospects. Interact with donors/prospects knowledgeably, persuasively, and sensitively
    • Write and articulate compelling fundraising materials including cases for support for specific development initiatives.
    • Manage, evaluate and direct all fundraising activities for the School of Law with the appropriate engagement of the Dean(s) and members of the Board of Advisors.
    • Develop and oversee the annual fund drive at the School of Law in collaboration with the Deans and other administrators at the law school; Assume responsibility for achievement of annual fund goal
    • Set prospect management goals including the number of personal contacts made per month, quarter and year; solicitations made per quarter and gifts closed per year to match the annual gift expectation
    • Identify, cultivate, steward and solicit current and potential donors
    • Establish lists of prospects and develop cultivation and solicitation strategies
    • Partner with the Dean and other leadership on strategic fundraising initiatives
    • Serve on various boards and direct committees
    • Participate in presentations to University, business, social and civic groups
    • Develop short- and long-term fundraising goals, plans and objectives, as well as solicitation proposals to meet the Law School's philanthropic needs
    Work collaboratively with all constituents:
    • Work directly with senior law school officials, prospects, and others as partners in donor/prospect cultivation and solicitation.
    • Independently manage collaborative working relationships with fundraising colleagues at the university at large to develop strategies for coordinated solicitation and to negotiate shared relationships
    • Facilitate communication and mutual understanding between prospective donors, volunteers, faculty, Deans and administrators by applying knowledge and understanding of Barry University's mission, traditions, programs, campus issues, needs and priorities to the development process.
    • Collaborate with all members of the Division of Institutional Advancement of the University to ensure the School of Law's priorities are included in any University wide campaign
    • Support other areas and projects of the law school and the Dean's suite to fulfill the mission of the University.
    • Advise the Dean on fundraising engagement to elevate the School of Law's profile and increase its fundraising
    Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and capital gift donors and sponsorship prospects. Act as primary prospect manager in order to move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure, maintaining a balance between discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
    • Develop and implement annual and long-term plans to cultivate and solicit major philanthropic support for University priority projects and for general support from assigned prospects.
    • Ensure appropriate stewardship of gifts.
    • Manage pool of major gift prospects.
    • Manage multiple internal and external priorities and timetables; develop sound plans with sufficiently flexible timetables to respond to changing circumstances and other prospect/project management.
    • Qualify suspects as prospects; evaluate capacity and interest of prospects.
    • Contact past donors periodically to steward well to position for next ask.
    • Identify new prospects with capacity to make a major gift to the University.
    • Serve as liaison between University and prospects.
    • Maintain current knowledge of fundraising policies, gift vehicles, giving trends and University policies and procedures.
    • Prepare reports evaluating fundraising activities.
    • Recommend and implement short, intermediate and long-term individual major gifts cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual prospects (e.g. alumni, parents, trustees, friends of the University, current students, faculty and staff), working with administration, faculty, volunteers (as appropriate) to identify and engage new prospects for purposes of meeting established personal and university fundraising goals;
    • Plan and implement events and activities (volunteer experiences, tours, receptions, friend-raisers, etc.) for individual major gift donors, using existing activities as appropriate; engage in networking activities or other opportunities to generate potential prospects for cultivation;
    • Develop major gift materials (e.g. research, briefing memos, proposals and stewardship materials), and request information on University alumni, parents, and friends to qualify interest and giving potential;
    • Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activity to achieve individual performance measures (e.g. meetings, proposals, major gift revenue);
    • Track and report relationship management activity.
    • Maintain knowledge of current tax laws, investments and planned giving opportunities; use knowledge in prospect cultivation and solicitation as appropriate;
    • Participate in regular philanthropy and organization-wide meetings, and develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with other team members;
    • Know and follow the CASE Code of Ethics for Fundraisers.
    The Officer must have an understanding of:
    • The dynamics of capital campaigns.
    • The tax guidelines governing charitable giving.
    • The development and structure of gift proposals and agreements.
    Some evening and weekend work is required

    Educational/Experiential Requirements

    Education:

    Required: Bachelor's Degree

    - Public or Business Administration Degree Preferred

    Preferred: Master's Degree

    Experience:

    5-8 years of relevant experience is required
