  • What you will do in this role
  • In this role, you will serve as a Work Activity Coordinator (WAC) for our Kankakee (IL, USA) site, which is located 60 miles south of Chicago.
  • You will ensure work activities are carried out safely in an effective and efficient way that focuses on the coordination of tasks and activities to manage team productivity and task completion per the schedule.
  • The Work Activity Coordinator (WAC) role is ideal for an experienced technician that:
  • Has a proven work history in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with mínimal supervision.
  • Can clearly communicate verbally and in writing to internal and external partners.
  • Exhibits strong multitasking, problem solving and time management skills with mínimal supervision.
  • Can lead by influence and collaborate with people of various backgrounds and experiences to achieve common goals.
  • Is skilled at building and maintaining collaborative relationships with operations and maintenance personnel, including site and facility leadership.
  • The Details:
  • As the Infrastructure Work Activity Coordinator (WAC), you will be ready to take on the following challenges and bring value to Dow as you:
  • Review job packages and prepares to do the task.
  • Assist in allocation of resources for resource leveraging.
  • Initiate the work permit procedure.
  • Report the progress of the daily work to enable adjustments to the work schedule when needed.
  • Review work status with service providers and originators and adjusts schedule as required.
  • Reassign persons scheduled to perform work to the next job, in the event the equipment is not prepared for maintenance on originally assigned job.
  • Confirm that all scheduled job sequences, tasks, and paperwork for the job have all been completed, then close the work order.
  • Return equipment to operations.
  • Perform the role of shift procedure use focal point for maintenance activity.
  • Serve as a planner and follows the planner responsibilities for Priority Work.
  • Coach crafts persons when completed procedures/checklists/equipment repair forms are not filled out correctly.
  • Conduct field audits to assure procedures are being used according to the local Maintenance Procedure Use Policy.
  • Demonstrate your commitment to a safe work environment by working safely and complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills that inspire others and lead through influence.
  • Participate in all safety programs and required training.
  • Prove your commitment to maintain ethical integrity in both successes and setbacks.


  • Qualifications

  • Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 or more years of manufacturing in a Maintenance or Production environment.
  • Must be willing and able to be on the Maintenance Call Out list as required per policy.
  • Must have valid US Driver's License.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.


  • Preferred Skills

  • An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential
  • Associate degree or higher in Maintenance Technology, Instrumentation or Electrical Technology or related field OR 4 or more years of relevant military experience.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience coordinating field activities in Maintenance or Production.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Wear required safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes, including respirators, in areas of intense or continuous noise.
  • Lift, push, and pull with frequent bending and reaching, including drum handling.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground, including tight and closed in spaces.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Essential functions of this position may require use of safety equipment with weight limit thresholds that include the total of the individual's weight plus any other tools/items carried to tools and other items and materials
