Summary:


The Client Services Representative (CSR) is a liaison between the laboratory's clients, Rush Medical Laboratories (RML) and the Department of Pathology.

The CSR is responsible for the initial set up of new clients and the servicing and maintenance of existing client accounts.

The CSR serves as a resource person to clients through training, developing procedures, resolving problems, and establishing good rapport with them.

Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.


Required Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of governmental and institutional laboratory regulations and reimbursement requirements.
  • Knowledge of Epic or similar systems.
  • Three years of relevant experience required, healthcare experience helpful.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate courteously and effectively with customers (clients) and all contacts
is essential.

  • Writing and organizational skills necessary to develop effective procedures and training documents.
  • Well organized and able to work independently.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities obtained through a combination of education, training and experience.
  • Works in a laboratory with exposure to potentially infectious specimens.

Responsibilities:


  • Assist clients, such as clinics, private physicians, and other laboratories, with problems related to service.
  • Train new clients on specimen collection, LIS, report distribution, lab inquiry, service updates and other laboratory procedures.
  • Coordinate the implementation plan for servicing a new client, ensuring new client is successfully integrated into RML and the Department of Pathology.
  • Regularly review client accounts to ensure service expectations are being met and lab procedures are properly implemented and followed.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on requisitions and file requisitions.
  • Develop and implement client specific procedures.
  • Prepare, submit and monitor billing for services to clients, combining patient records for efficient billing. Monitor and correct rejected charges.
  • Assist with LIS billing reports.
  • Set up and monitor inventory control/supplies distribution to client sites. Order supplies and fill client orders.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of RML and Pathology operations and available services.
  • Regularly update laboratory director and laboratory manager on client services.
  • Prepare reports and work on projects related to clients and new business.
  • Maintain a courteous, professional and helpful rapport when interacting with others.
  • Communicate successfully and in a friendly manner even in stressful situations.
  • Accept constructive criticism in a positive manner. Work toward solution rather than complaining.
  • Accept and perform all new procedures with little difficulty. Offer suggestions for improvement when a new approach is sought.
  • Promotes teamwork by working together with supervisors and peers.
  • Must present as a laboratory professional at all times, both in appearance and demeanor.
