Primary Purpose:


The Human Resources Manager leads and directs the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department for the Fairfield plant and corporate headquarters.

This role manages the processes for hiring and onboarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

The Human Resources Manager also oversees the safety responsibilities for the assigned location.

The Human Resources Manager must collaborate with corporate and plant leadership on dynamic and challenging business initiatives and decisions, to function as an advisor and a partner.

The Human Resources Manager will be the sole HR point of contact and resource for employees at the location, while being part of a larger organizational human resources team.

This role requires the Human Resources Manager to work onsite full-time to best serve the leadership team and the employees.


Responsibilities:


Human Resources

  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for exempt, nonexempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conduct onboarding orientation and ensure process completion of all new hire paperwork.
  • Provide advice and counsel to site leadership regarding personnel practices, company policy and interpretation, and employment law to ensure compliance.
  • Resolve daytoday employee relations matters in compliance with policy and practice.
  • Provides support and guidance to staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, overseeing employee disciplinary meetings, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, policies, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Liaison to Payroll and IT to communicate any changes.
  • Partner with office management on employee activities, events, and day to day projects.
  • Oversee corporate internship program.
  • Manage all leaves of absence, FMLA and disability.
  • Provide or oversee administrative support when needed.

Safety

  • Manages federal state and local Plant OSHA compliance regulations.
  • Develops and coordinates training for general safety, workers compensation and accident investigation.
  • Schedules, monitors and recommends action based on returntowork examinations.
  • Provide first aid treatment of onthejob illness or injury. Ensure that properly trained persons are available to render first aid on other shifts.
  • Maintain first aid treatment records and reports.
  • Maintain emergency response and accident prevention plans. Organize and manage emergency response team and safety committee.
  • Coordinate and schedule as necessary: PFTs, physicals, hearing tests, safety glasses, drug testing, and wellness programs.
  • Maintain and report monthly statistics pertaining to the plant safety record and corporate requirements.
  • Recommend action to assure that the plant complies with all federal state, and local laws related to the health and safety of employees.
  • Work cross functionally to identify root cause and corrective actions for any incidents or injuries.
  • Process all employee workers compensation claims. Coordinate and assist in representing the company at hearings.
  • Maintains liaison with Company retained physician, schedules physical examinations, and coordinates medical reports for workrelated illnesses or injuries.
  • Maintains contact with all employees absent from work with job related conditions.
  • Identifies and offers modified work as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Qualities and Skills Required:


  • At least five years of human resource management experience required, food and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • At least two years of experience managing regulatory compliance in OSHA or related.
  • Experience with a Union population required.
  • Bachelor's degree a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate with all levels of organization.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employmentrelated laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft
