    Description

    General Job Information

    Responsible for the full range of extremely difficult medical problems (often complicated by the patient's psychiatric condition and treatment). Evaluates and diagnose patients; develops or directs development of the treatment plan; and provides the orders, direction, and the collaboration or consultation in the provision or overseeing of medical evaluations and treatments. Oversees the preparation of documentation, medical records and referrals for outpatient specialty consultation. In emergency situations, assumes responsibility for the acute medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Participates in meetings, conferences, training sessions, and continuing education activities. May carry out on-call duties as assigned. Provides guidance and consultation for mid-level providers when necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

    Graduation with degree of Doctor of Medicine from a United States School of Medicine or Canadian School of Medicine approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) of the American Medical Association in the year of the applicant's graduation or an equivalent degree from a foreign medical school certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG); and

    Licensures, Certifications and other requirements

    A current permanent and full or unrestricted license to practice medicine in the District of Columbia

    SALARY RANGE:

    CS-3 $237,527 - $278,569 Per Annum

    CS-3B $250,000 - $291,046 Per Annum

    CS-3C $257,678 - $298,723 Per Annum

    WORK EXPERIENCE

    Completion of Residency Program

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Work is in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risks of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.

    TOUR OF DUTY:

    Required to work rotating shifts, to include weekends and holidays

    AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Open to the Public

    DURATION OF APPOINTMENT: Permanent

    First Screening:

    This position IS in the collective bargaining unit represented by Doctor's Council_ you may be required to pay an agency service fee through an automatic payroll deduction.

    THIS POSITION REQUIRES A PRE EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL EXAM, CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG TEST.

    Position Designation: This position is deemed as "Safety Sensitive" pursuant to Section 410 of Chapter 4 of the Personnel Regulations, in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying safety sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests:

  • Criminal background check;
  • Traffic record check (as applicable);
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol test;
  • Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test;
  • Post-accident or incident drug and alcohol test;
  • Random drug and alcohol test; and
  • Return-to-duty or follow-up drug and alcohol test.

    • RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: If the position you applied for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of appointment.

    RESIDENCY PREFERENCE AMENDMENT ACT OF 1988

    A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
